White Sox bring back Aaron Rowand in front office role
Aaron Rowand is back in baseball.
The 38-year-old last appeared on a diamond in 2011 with the San Francisco Giants, but has joined the Chicago White Sox front office in a coordinator role:
Rowand played parts of five seasons on the South Side, his last season being with the 2005 World Series squad.
While Rowand wasn't the most talented or gifted guy on the field, he was often the smartest -- the mental side of the game is something he will preach in his new role.
“When it comes down to just sheer passion and desire to try to win baseball games, that's when you see guys going first to third or second to home, or running in a guy's face, trying to take an extra base,” said Rowand, via ESPN Chicago. “It's all about want, it's all about combining your desire and your knowledge and then your effort, and you'll become a good baserunner. That goes from Instructional League all the way up to the big leagues.”
In five season with the Sox, from 2001-05, Rowand hit .283 with 54 home runs 2011 RBI.
