White Sox 4, Braves 2

Carlos Quentin homered twice off Tim Hudson, and Mark Buehrle pitched out of numerous jams Wednesday night as the Chicago White Sox extended their winning streak to eight games with a 4-2 victory over the Atlanta Braves.

The White Sox have won 12 of 13 to move within 3 1/2 games of AL Central-leading Minnesota. Just two weeks ago, they were 9 1/2 games back.

Despite allowing nine hits in six innings, Buehrle earned his major league-record 23rd interleague victory. Buehrle (6-6) is 9-0 with a 1.73 ERA in his last 12 starts against NL teams.

Hudson (7-3) allowed six hits in seven innings, but still surrendered more than three earned runs for the first time all season.

Bobby Jenks worked the ninth for his 16th save in 17 attempts.
