WATCH: Texas Rangers' charity event supports family of late journalist

The Texas Rangers family -- and the team's extended universe -- went to bat for the family of a journalist who died suddenly last year.

The event to benefit those close Richard Durrett, who died suddenly at 38, was a hit, raising $50,000. Durrett left behind a pregnant wife and two young children.

Rangers TV sideline reporter Emily Jones and others that included GM Jon Daniels, played host to the second "Do It For Durrett" fundraiser, which raised $50,000 on Thursday for the family of Durrett.

Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reported on the "grand finale," which was a take on "We Are the World."
