WATCH: Reds right fielder Jay Bruce smacks 200th career homer

Cincinnati Reds right fielder Jay Bruce hit the 200th home run of his career in the second inning of Monday night's game at San Diego.

Bruce's 406-foot blast that just cleared the wall in right-center field at Petco Park came on the first pitch he saw from Padres starter Ian Kennedy.

In his eighth season in the big leagues, all with the Reds, Bruce, 28, is just the ninth player in franchise history to hit 200 home runs in a Reds uniform, according to Cincinnati.com. He is also ninth on the team's all-time home-run list, needing just four more to pass Eric Davis for eighth.

Bruce is also nearing another Reds milestone. After his second-inning homer, he needs just 17 more hits to become the sixth player to collect 1,000 hits and 200 home runs in a Reds uniform. All five of the others to reach those numbers are in the Reds' Hall of Fame (Johnny Bench, Tony Perez, Frank Robinson, Ted Kluszewski and George Foster).

Bruce is the 319th player in Major League Baseball history to hit 200 career home runs.
