WATCH: Mets make surprise appearance on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'

With a few extra days to spare before the World Series after sweeping the Chicago Cubs in the NLCS, the New York Mets paid a visit to Jimmy Kimmel's late-night talk show on Friday.

Before traveling to Kansas City to open the World Series against the Royals on Tuesday, pitchers Jacob deGrom and Matt Harvey, infielder Wilmer Flores, and captain David Wright took a trip to Brooklyn, where "Jimmy Kimmel Live" was being filmed for the week.

The quartet was greeted with a booming ovation by New Yorkers as it was introduced by Kimmel, a Brooklyn native and Mets fan himself.

"What a great year to be a Mets fan, really," Kimmel says. "I mean, who the hell expected this to happen?"

Among the noteworthy topics the gang talked during their appearance was Flores' reaction to the trade that eventually fell through, a Halloween wig that emulates deGrom's hair, and their potential celebration after winning the World Series.

As for their celebration after the NLCS, Wright said it was a "big celebration." When asked to elaborate, he comically replied, "It was a big celebration."
