WATCH: Fiers hits 'MLB Central' to talk about no-hitter and Astros' success

Mike Fiers has had an eventful week. After throwing an impressive no-hitter against the Los Angeles Dodgers last Friday night at Minute Maid Park, the Houston Astros' new right-hander picked up AL Player of the Week honors on Monday.

On Tuesday, Fiers stopped by the MLB Network studios for a segment on 'MLB Central'. There, he spoke at length about the experience of tossing a no-hitter as well as the sustained success of his newest employers, the first-place Astros. Watch the ten-minute interview below:

What's next for Fiers after his post no-hitter victory lap? Well, his next scheduled start is set for Saturday against the Minnesota Twins at Target Field. Despite throwing more than 130 pitches in his no-hitter, Fiers told Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle that his arm feels 'great', and added that, "The first day after that ,I just didn’t really want to pick up the ball, just stayed away from baseball activity, just a little stretching and a little conditioning. The next day just light catch and today another, throwing about 90 feet or so. Get back into a routine of things.”

Teams are especially cautious with pitch counts and other injury risks this late into the season, so the Astros are obviously hoping that a week's worth of rest between starts will be just what Fiers needs in order to be effective again this weekend.
