Watch: Edwin Encarnacion hits walk-off home run, Blue Jays win AL wild-card game
The Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Baltimore Orioles 5–2 in walk-off fashion on Tuesday night in 11 innings to win the American League wild-card game and advance to the American League Division Series against the Texas Rangers.
Blue Jays outfielder Edwin Encarnacion hit a walk-off three-run home run off Ubaldo Jimenez in the bottom of the 11th inning to deliver the Blue Jays' second consecutive wild-card game win.
Watch the blast below:
Jose Bautista put the Blue Jays on the board early with a solo home run in the bottom of the second inning off of Orioles starter Chris Tillman.
Mark Trumbo, who led the majors with 47 home runs in the regular season, then put the Orioles ahead with a two-run home run in the fourth inning off Marcus Stroman. That would be all the offense the Orioles mustered out of Stroman as he finished the day with six innings pitched, four hits, two earned runs and six strikeouts.
Toronto tied the game in the bottom of the fifth inning as Ezequiel Carrera lined a single to centerfield to score Michael Saunders and knock Tillman out of the game after 4 1/3 innings pitched, having given up four hits, two earned runs and four strikeouts.
Game 1 of the ALDS will be held on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. ET at Globe Life Park.
