Wainwright eyeing a comeback
Adam Wainwright tore his Achilles tendon in April and although pitching later this year may seem impossible, the Cardinals' ace is hoping that he'll be able to do it.
"I'll do whatever it takes to pitch in October," Wainwright told Cardinals.com. "That's the deal."
The rehab process is a lengthy one – typically nine to 12 months – but Wainwright is committed to working hard and doing whatever he can to accelerate the process.
"I feel completely normal at all times," Wainwright said. "It's a really strange injury ... as far as pain is concerned. I have had zero pain the entire process, and each day, my range of motion is getting better and better. My strength is getting better and my poor little, tired, sad calf in my left leg is starting to get some strength back, so we're just getting better every day."
It remains to be seen whether he will actually be able to pitch this season, but the Cardinals and their fans have to be appreciate of his attitude and his refusal to concede the 2015 season.
