Upton gets homer after video review

B.J. Upton of the Tampa Bay Rays has gotten a home run after a video review determined his fly ball struck an overhanging catwalk at Tropicana Field.

Upton hit a high fly to center off Kyle Drabek in the first inning of Monday night's game against Toronto. Blue Jays outfielder Colby Rasmus appeared to move into position to make the catch near the warning track, but the ball suddenly dropped in front of him and Upton reached second base.

The umpires, led by crew chief Joe West, discussed the matter on the field before spending almost five minutes reviewing video of the play.

It was decided that the ball hit one of two catwalks that according to the ground rules is a home run.
