Twins get reliever Capps from Nats
The Twins have acquired right-handed reliever Matt Capps and cash from the Nationals for catching prospect Wilson Ramos and left-handed pitcher Joe Testa.
Ramos is considered expendable because the Twins signed franchise catcher Joe Mauer to an extension.
Capps, 26, is 3-3 with a 2.74 ERA in 47 games for the Nationals this season. A member of this year's NL All-Star team, Cappas converted 26 of 30 save opportunities. He has a career record of 22-22, 3.48, with 59 walks and 246 strikeouts. He has converted 93 of 119 career save opportunities.
Ramos, 22, has appeared in seven games for the Twins this year, hitting .296 (8 for 27). He has spent most of the current season at Triple-A Rochester. In 71 games with the Red Wings, he batted .241 with five home runs and 30 RBIs.
Testa, signed by the Twins as a non-drafted free agent in 2008, began this season at Double-A New Britain and later was sent to Single-A Fort Myers.
