Trumbo and the D-backs' crowded outfield

Having an excess number of outfielders can be thought of as a good thing, or a problem. It seems like it was a problem for the Dodgers last season which led to the trade of Matt Kemp in the offseason, and rumors that the team was also looking to trade Andre Ethier. The Diamondbacks are currently in a similarly challenging situation with A.J. Pollock, Ender Inciarte, David Peralta, Mark Trumbo and outfielder/third baseman Yasmany Tomas. John Gambadoro, co-host of Burns & Gambo on Arizona Sports 98.7, calls this a "good problem" for the D-backs.

Mark Trumbo is considered a trade target according to ESPN's Jim Bowden. Here is Gambadoro's take on Trumbo:

"In a full season, Trumbo has the potential to hit 30-plus home runs here and drive in 90-plus runs. And right now he is hitting .273, which isn't too shabby for a power hitter. I understand the need to justify the money spent on Tomas and I understand the defensive liability Trumbo is in the outfield. But moving Trumbo to find room for Tomas is not the answer."
