Tim Tebow has already received his first pro baseball offer

By now, you’ve probably heard the news that has just about broken the internet: With his NFL career likely over, Tim Tebow will hold a tryout for Major League Baseball teams in hopes of securing a baseball contract. Few details are available at the moment, but according to one agent, this is not a publicity stunt. This is a real thing that really is happening.

The tryout is still ways away, and as it turns out, Tebow might not have to go through with it at all. That’s because he was actually offered an official baseball contract late Tuesday morning, no tryout needed.

It came from the Schaumburg Boomers, an independent Frontier League team based in Schaumburg, Illinois. They offered Tebow a deal Tuesday, sight unseen to play for their squad.

Here are some details, via the Boomers:

From there, the team’s general manager explained how the team could help the former Heisman-trophy winning quarterback one day ultimately reach his goal.

Clearly this is all tongue-in-cheek, but credit to the Boomers for this: We knew some team would come out of left field (bad pun intended) with an offer for Tebow, but they were the first ones and get the subsequent headlines from it. After all, it’s a "win" across the board for the club; they get free publicity all day from this news, and on the miniscule chance Tebow signed with the club, can you imagine the PR they would get for it?

As for Tebow himself, well, he could do a lot worse than signing with the Boomers. Besides their proximity to Chicago, the Boomers were Frontier League champions in 2013 and 2014.

Oh, and if baseball doesn't work out, there is one other option on the table for Tebow. Basketball.
