Tim Tebow evaluates how he performed in his MLB showcase

The baseball world was momentarily focused on Tim Tebow on Tuesday, as he held a showcase at USC for MLB teams to evaluate him, the next step in Tebow's goal of pursuing a career in professional baseball.

The reviews of Tebow's workout were fairly mixed. With 27 teams and 42 scouts at the workout, Tebow ran a 60-yard dash, did outfield throwing and fielding drills, took batting practice and then faced live pitching.

As expected, Tebow showed some raw power in batting practice -- hitting some balls estimated at well over 400 feet -- and then had his struggles against live pitching from two current minor leaguers.

After the workout, Tebow chatted with FOX Sports' Skip Bayless. Here is what he said about his workout:

On what he did best: "Compete in counts -- compete when it was 0-2 and be able to fight it off and get a hit. A lot of the pitches today were away and trying to get you to hit ground balls, so staying on some balls and hitting them hard away. I think my strength is when it comes in, but you don't always get that opportunity. So when they give you something you can drive the other way, drive it."

On his outfield play: "I felt pretty comfortable. I felt like I could make the throws, and that's probably only the sixth or seventh time that I've done that, but I feel like I have the arm strength to make the throws I need to."

On facing live pitching: "It was easier than [batting practice] in a way because it was getting some of the nerves out and the timing and just get up there and compete rather than kind of the rhythm of a BP."

On making it to MLB: "I obviously believe. I believe, and when you believe in something, [there's] not doubt. It's, 'I believe.' So, I'm going to put in the work and it doesn't mean that it'll happen, but it means I'll give everything I have. If I fail or if I fall flat on my face, then guess what? It's not the worst thing. I mean, when did that become a bad thing?"

On what he wants from a team: "No. 1, it's someone believes in my talent, believes in me as a player. No. 2, they designed a plan of how to progress me, of how to work, of how to compete, of how to get better. Those would be the two things that I really want."

On a message for others: "I just want the young people that are looking at this -- don't be afraid of going after what's on your heart or your dreams or your goals. Regardless of what you do, there's gonna be people that are gonna try to pull you down. But don't stop going after something because the threat of failure, because you might fall flat on your face, because of what other people say. Go after what you want, believe in it and pursue your dreams and your goals. Yeah, those are things we put on hash tags, but actually doing it, actually pursuing it not worried about fame or money or anything else.
