Tigers trade for reliever Veras
The Detroit Tigers acquired reliever Jose Veras from the Houston Astros.
The deal was first reported by FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal.
Veras has 19 saves with a 2.93 ERA, striking out 44 in 42 outings. The right-hander, who’s in his eighth year in the majors, began his career with the New York Yankees.
Veras, 32, hasn’t allowed a run during seven appearances in July.
The Tigers sent outfielder Danry Vasquez, who is hitting .281 with 16 doubles in 96 games at Single A, and a player to be named later in the deal.
