Tigers' Cespedes accepts award for legendary throw last year against Angels

Don't run on Yoenis Cespedes.

This is something pretty much everyone in baseball knows.

The Detroit Tigers left-fielder has one of the best arms in the game. He's made a number of jaw-dropping plays in the outfield, some so pretty they deserve an award.

And this weekend, he got that award.

You might recall the laser he threw the Angels in June of last year, which reached home on the fly -- from practically the left-field wall -- to undoubtedly get Howie Kendrick out.

The play earned Cespedes the 2014 GIBBY award for Best Outfield Throw of the Year. On Friday, he accepted the award in New York while the Tigers were in town to face the Yankees.

As he reflected on the insane play, Cespedes had the perfect explanation: "I just threw the ball."
