Tigers and David Price have not yet talked contract extension
David Price has said that he's open to returning to the Detroit Tigers after this season, but as of Monday, the two sides have yet to make progress on an extension.
"No, not yet, I was open to it." Price told the Detroit Free Press when asked about a possible extension.
When asked whether that meant the Tigers had not contacted his camp, Price said, "You'll have to ask my agent."
Price said he did not believe he would be traded by the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline and said, "This is hands down one of the most talented teams I've ever been on.
"I don't think it will happen; I don't. We have a very very talented team.... So we just need everybody to do their part, come to the field, work hard and have fun."
If no extension is agreed upon, Price will hit the free agent market this offseason, and will command a hefty pay day.
The left-hander is 9-2 with 115 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.38 in 125 innings this season.
