Ticket prices for the Cubs-Indians World Series are insane

You probably could've seen this coming, but World Series ticket prices are going to be very expensive this time around.

With the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians going head-to-head in the Fall Classic, we're witnessing a matchup of two historically hard-luck franchises. The Indians haven't won the title since 1948. The Cubs haven't since 1908, and haven't even made it to the World Series since 1945.

So it's a rare opportunity for both fan bases to see their teams compete for a trophy, and as such, tickets on the secondary market are going through the roof. The data below, from VividSeats.com and current as of Oct. 22, shows the cheapest tickets — or "get-in price" — and the average price for tickets for every game of the series.

Game 1 at Cleveland — Get-in price: $938, median price: $2,178
Game 2 at Cleveland — Get-in price: $884, median price: $2,250
Game 3 at Chicago — Get-in price: $1,984, median price: $5,500
Game 4 at Chicago — Get-in price: $2,593, median price: $6,200
Game 5 at Chicago (if necessary) — Get-in price: $2,638, median price: $7,500
Game 6 at Cleveland (if necessary) — Get-in price: $898, median price: $3,000
Game 7 at Cleveland (if necessary) — Get-in price: $1,082, median price: $3,556

To see a game in Cleveland, it'll cost you nearly $900 just to get in the door and over $2,000 for an average ticket. At Wrigley, you'll need over $2,000 to get in and between $5,500 and $7,500 for an average ticket.

Those prices are astronomically higher than any other in recent years. The average price to see the Kansas City Royals and New York Mets a year ago was just $756, and that was the highest price of the past four seasons, for which VividSeats.com has data.

Game 1 is Tuesday on FOX with first pitch shortly after 8 p.m. ET. It's free to sit at home and watch on your TV.
