Three Angels file for arbitration, including Calhoun

The Los Angeles Angels are reluctant to spend exorbitant amounts of money on highly-priced free agents, but they will likely have to hand out pay raises to three of their most reliable players. 

Ahead of Tuesday's deadline, pitcher Garrett Richards (15-12 with a 3.65 ERA coming back from his knee injury in 2014), reliever Fernando Salas (72 appearances in 2015 as the club's most-used pitcher) and outfielder Kole Calhoun (.256/.308/.422 with 26 home runs, 83 RBI and a Gold Glove award) all filed for arbitration. 

Coming up on Friday, teams and players can exchange figures and come to an agreement on a 2016 salary or, if they're too far apart in expectations, head to an arbitration hearing in February. 

Calhoun seems primed for a significant raise from the $537,500 he earned in 2015 due to his resilience and that Gold Glove award. After all, he now possesses more Gold Gloves than his teammate, otherworldly talent Mike Trout.
