This crazy Marlins bet will result in a radio host eating a crow
We’ve all said things we regret, and that certainly includes South Florida sports talk host Brendan Tobin.
In early August, Tobin proclaimed on 790 The Ticket that he would “literally eat crow” if Marlins left fielder Christian Yelich hit 20 homers this season. At the time of that now-regrettable vow, Yelich had just 11 homers. Entering this season, Yelich had only 20 career homers in 1,458 major-league plate appearances and his career-best was nine in 2014.
But then a crazy thing happened: Yelich hit seven more homers by Sept. 1 to increase his total to 18. At that point, The Miami Herald caught up with Tobin:
Well, Yelich was sitting on 19 long balls for the season when he came to the plate in the seventh inning – against Max Scherzer, of all pitchers – on Wednesday. And then this happened:
Tobin’s Twitter account instantly was flooded with images and GIFs involving crows, prompting this tweet from the fowl aficionado:
Hasta la BYE-BYE! ?
