The Rays' trip home from Cuba was a series of unfortunate events

The Tampa Bay Rays made history on Tuesday, becoming the first MLB team to play in Cuba since 1999. The Rays took on the Cuban national team, coming away with a 4-1 victory thanks to six shutout innings from Matt Moore and a two-run blast by James Loney.

In addition to the game, it was a historic day for President Barack Obama. Not only did he throw out the first pitch, but he also became the first president to visit Cuba since Calvin Coolidge in 1928.

Following his short stint in Cuba, Obama left for Argentina, where he touched down early Wednesday. The Rays, on the other hand, planned to head back to the states on Tuesday, but there were a few complications.

According to pitcher Chris Archer's tweets, it was a less-than-ideal trip home. The Rays were stuck on the runway for six hours, severely delaying their flight.

But wait, it got worse. Apparently the showers at the stadium weren't functioning properly, so "many" players didn't shower. Sweaty baseball players in a confined space on the runway for six hours? Not fun.

At least they had potato chips to eat, though that was their only option.

Fortunately, the Rays finally touched down in the U.S. early this morning.

Obviously it was a historic and groundbreaking trip for the president and the MLB, but the Rays' trek home could have gone better, to say the least.
