The Miami Marlins reportedly fire Barry Bonds
The Miami Marlins have reportedly fired hitting coach Barry Bonds after only one season with the club.
According to the Miami Herald, the Marlins also let third base coach Lenny Harris and bullpen coach Reid Cornelius go in addition to Bonds.
Bonds was brought in by Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria after the 2015 season to improve an offense that ranked second-to-last in MLB in runs scored and 26th in OPS.
In 2016, those numbers were minimally improved, as Miami ranked 27th in runs and 25th in OPS.
There reportedly had been some tension between Bonds and manager Don Mattingly and star outfielder Giancarlo Stanton.
