The Mariners presented David Ortiz with a dead fish as part of his farewell gifts

David Ortiz has already gotten some weird gifts as part of his farewell tour, but none have (probably) been as stinky as what the Mariners gave him on Wednesday night. To honor Ortiz in his final MLB season, Seattle presented the designated hitter with a very large dead fish that was thrown across the field by Pike Place Market fishmongers.

It was a slightly bizarre scene to watch unfold but, in fairness, it's cool when teams tap into their local culture to craft these retirement gifts.

In addition to the 34 pounds of salmon that the M's gifted Ortiz, they also presented him with some other going-away presents. The team framed Ortiz's first-ever pro baseball contract, which he signed with the Mariners way back in 1992, and had Edgar Martinez present it to him.

Ortiz's good pals Robinson Cano, Felix Hernandez and Nelson Cruz also came onto the field in Flava Flav costumes (to signify that the clock is running out on his career?) and gave the Red Sox slugger a custom painting and watch.

These are some thoughtful presents, but you've got to wonder if Ortiz would rather just get a loaded Amazon gift card at this point. I mean, who doesn't love an Amazon gift card?
