Terry Collins goes on an epic rant after the reeling Mets fall to .500

The Mets are in a tailspin, and manager Terry Collins clearly has had enough.

After the Mets managed just five hits in a 9-0 loss to the last-place Diamondbacks on Thursday to suffer a three-game sweep at Citi Field, Collins ripped his team, its passion and its effort in a monologue that lasted nearly four minutes. Here it is in its entirety:

This latest loss dropped the Mets to .500 for the first time since April 20 and clearly raised Collins’ blood pressure. During the three-game sweep, New York was outscored 17-5 and allowed 13 stolen bases. And also heard plenty of boos from the hometown fans.

A season after reaching the World Series, New York is in danger of missing the playoffs, largely because of an anemic offense that is missing injured stars Yoenis Cespedes, Lucas Duda, David Wright and Jose Reyes. Predictably, there are rumblings that Collins could be on the hot seat.

What a difference a year makes.
