The 25-year-old starter was drafted by the Houston Astros in the first round of the 2008 amateur draft. Lyles pitched for the Astros for three years after making his major-league debut in 2011 before being traded to the Rockies alongside Brandon Barnes in exchange for outfielder Dexter Fowler.
In his two seasons in Colorado, the right-hander has posted a 9-9 record with a 4.56 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, and 120 strikeouts versus 65 walks in 175 2/3 innings over 32 starts.
Lyles has missed stretches during his time with the Rockies, becoming sidelined with a fractured metatarsal in his left hand in 2014 that limited him to 22 starts and a sprained left toe that held him to a mere 10 outings this past season.
