Source: Hoffman claimed, others clear waivers
Brewers closer Trevor Hoffman has been claimed on trade waivers, a major-league source told FOXSports.com.

Meanwhile, several Milwaukee veterans — catcher Jason Kendall, infielder Craig Counsell, center fielder Mike Cameron and right-handed starter Braden Looper — cleared waivers Thursday and could be dealt before Monday's deadline to set postseason rosters.
Kendall, Counsell and Cameron are scheduled to become free agents after this season, which enhances their trade value. Looper has a mutual option for 2010 worth $6 million that includes a $750,000 buyout.
It's not clear which team was awarded the claim on Hoffman. But the chances of him being dealt are probably not good. He isn't inclined to be a setup man and likes pitching in Milwaukee.
Hoffman, earning $6 million on a one-year contract, would like to return to the Brewers next year. He is 1-1 with a 1.85 ERA and 27 saves in 40 games this year.
