Source: D-backs sign Drew for $13.75M
The Arizona Diamondbacks today signed shortstop Stephen Drew to
a two-year, $13.75 million contract, one major-league source told
FOXSports.com.
Drew’s contract also includes a mutual option for the
2013 season.
The mutual option will enable the left-handed hitter to
exercise his right to free agency after the 2012 season. He was on
schedule to do so, anyway, without the multiyear deal.
Drew, who turns 28 in March, is coming off a season in which
he performed consistent with his career norms. He batted .278 with
15 home runs and 61 RBIs, while stealing 10 bases and appearing in
151 games.
