Snake-bitten son of Rockies' pitcher John Axford to throw out first pitch

Jameson, the son of Rockies reliever John Axford, is doing better after being bitten by a rattlesnake in March while in Arizona. There had been fears that the 2 1/2-year-old would lose his right foot or a toe. Although that was not the case, Jameson currently requires a wheelchair while his foot heals. He will be wheeled to the mound at Coors Field on Friday to throw out the first pitch of the Rockies’ game against the Dodgers.

The reliever sounded excited, according to the Denver Post:

“It will be pretty cool, and pretty emotional, I imagine,” Axford said. “It’s pretty cool that the Rockies would do this for us.”
