Smith stepping up in big way for Brewers
Ever since Will Smith returned from his six-game suspention, he's been dominant for the Brewers' bullpen.
“I think maybe I was just super-excited to get back,” Smith told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. “I was bored out of my mind. It was awful. Maybe that had something to do with it – being excited to be able to stay in the clubhouse and watch the game in person.”
Smith has amassed 7 1/3 scoreless innings since his return and notched seven strikeouts in the process.
“I think Will’s been great all year,” Brewers manager Craig Counsell said. “Will’s one of the elite relief pitchers in this game. That’s my opinion. He was that before, he’s been that after the suspension.”
