Shane Victorino to see hand specialist
Philadelphia Phillies center fielder Shane Victorino is going to have his injured right thumb examined by a hand specialist.
Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said Victorino probably will miss some time. Victorino was out of the lineup Tuesday night in Florida for the second straight game.
Victorino was hurt Sunday when he stumbled and fell making a throw in Toronto. The team said the exam in Philadelphia was precautionary.
Michael Martinez replaced Victorino in the lineup. Martinez drove in the only run in the Phillies' victory Monday over Florida.
Manuel said Victorino's hand was swollen.
''He can't grip the ball, and it's hard to grip the bat,'' he said. ''Will he miss some time? Probably. I don't think it's going to be a whole lot, but we'll see.''
