Rockies plan three-day celebration around retirement of Helton's No. 17

Todd Helton's jersey will be retired in a big way this weekend in Colorado.

The Rockies are going to celebrate the first baseman's career. He hit .316 with 369 home runs and 1,406 RBI from 1997-2013.

Helton, the eighth overall pick in the 1995 MLB Draft, is the franchise's all-time leader in homers, RBI, games played (2,247), hits (2,519), runs (1,401), singles (1,521), doubles (592) and walks (1,335).

Those in attendance at all three games against the Cincinnati Reds are in for a Helton trifecta of promotional items.

The first 15,000 people in attendance on Friday were to receive a Helton bobblehead.

On Saturday, the same number of fans will receive a Helton jersey.

And on Sunday, when Helton's jersey is officially retired, 15,000 fans will receive a Todd Helton "Retire 17" bobblehead gnome.
