Rich Hill signs three-year deal to remain with Dodgers
Starting pitcher Rich Hill has re-signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers on a three-year deal worth $48 million, the team announced.
Last season, Hill joined the Dodgers at the non-waiver trade deadline along with outfielder Josh Reddick. Hill not make his Dodgers debut until late August due to blister problems and a groin injury. The left-handed veteran served as one of the team's most reliable pitchers in the postseason. He posted 3.46 ERA in his three playoff starts and defeated the Chicago Cubs, one of his many former teams, in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series.
Hill will turn 37 on March 11. He is 38–28 in his 12 years in the Major Leagues. In addition to Chicago and Oakland, Hill was also a member of the Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Indians, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, New York Yankees. After the 2015 season, Hill spent time with the Long Island Ducks before he started his second stint with the Red Sox.
The Dodgers' rotation for 2017 will be comprised of Clayton Kershaw, Rich Hill, Kenta Maeda and Julio Urias. Scott Kazmir Brandon McCarthy, Hyun-Jin Ryu, Alex Wood and Jose DeLeon are expected to compete for the final rotation spot.
As the Winter Meetings continue, Los Angeles will try to hold onto third baseman Justin Turner and closer Kenley Jansen.
The Yankees, Texas Rangers and Houston Astros were among the teams that were interested in Hill.
