Report: Wil Myers out until August

By David Kenyon

San Diego Padres outfielder Wil Myers recently returned to action after spending one month on the disabled list, but he’s headed back to the shelf.

According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports, Myers will be sidelined until August because he will be undergoing surgery.

Myers has appeared in 35 games, batting .277 with five home runs and 19 RBIs. He’s yet to commit an error in 109 chances.

Dennis Lin of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports Padres manager Pat Murphy said of Myers’ absence:

San Diego acquired Myers, the 2012 AL Rookie of the Year, in a three-team trade last December.

For the time being, Will Venable will likely replace Myers.
