Report: Pettitte to be called as witness

Former NY Yankee Andy Pettitte and former MLB player David Segui are believed to have been subpoenaed for the upcoming Roger Clemens perjury trial, the New York Daily News reported Monday.

The trial of the 48-year-old seven-time Cy Young Award winner begins on July 6 in the US District Court in Washington D.C. and prosecutors have already begun lining up witnesses.

Along with Pettitte and Segui, convicted steroid dealer Kirk Radomski and Clemens' former personal trainer, Brian McNamee, will reportedly also be called to give evidence.

McNamee is considered a key figure after telling investigators and a congressional committee that he injected Clemens with performance-enhancing drugs repeatedly between 1998 and 2001.

Clemens told a televised hearing on Capitol Hill that McNamee only injected him with vitamin B-12 and lidocaine.

He is now charged with three counts of making false statements, two counts of perjury and one count of obstruction of justice.

Pettitte, who recently retired from baseball, reportedly verified accusations that McNamee made, and also testified that he and Clemens spoke about the use of human growth hormone.
