Report: Nationals managerial search down to two candidates

After firing Matt Williams, the Washington Nationals are reportedly deciding between two veteran managers to take over as their next skipper.

CBS Sports reports that the Nationals front office has called back both Dusty Baker and Bud Black for second interviews and that they are the only candidates being considered for Washington's vacant managerial spot at this juncture of the decision process.

The Nationals have set their sights on hiring an established manager after a failed project with Williams, who had no prior managerial experience before taking the helm.

Baker has 20 years of experience to his name after stints with the San Francisco Giants, Chicago Cubs, and Cincinnati Reds. He holds a 1,671-1,504 lifetime managerial record but has only won one NL pennant and has never won a World Series.

Black holds nine years of experience, but has never managed in a major market, as he spent all of his years managing the San Diego Padres. While he made the most out of the cards he was dealt in San Diego, Black never made the postseason with the Padres and holds a career 649-713 record as a manager.
