Report: Molina to earn ring if Giants win

Rangers catcher Bengie Molina stands to receive a World Series championship ring regardless of whether Texas or San Francisco wins.

If the Giants end up taking out Molina's Rangers to win the Fall Classic, they'll award him a championship ring for his tenure with the Giants for the first half of the season, according to a Yahoo Sports report.

Molina, 36, was San Francisco's catcher from 2007 until July 1 of this season, playing in 61 games for the Giants this year. He was traded to the Rangers before the deadline, as rookie Buster Posey emerged as an everyday threat for the Giants.

Molina's been an important player for the Rangers in the postseason, batting .333 with two home runs and seven RBIs in nine contests.

According to the report, Molina is credited as being a key to the development of the Giants' star young pitchers during his tenure in San Francisco.

He caught Tim Lincecum during the ace's two Cy Young award-winning seasons and got Lincecum to believe in his changeup no matter what the count was. He also helped Matt Cain become more aggressive and aided Brian Wilson's development as a shutdown closer, the report says.
