Report: Detroit Tigers scouting Cincinnati Reds ace Johnny Cueto

The Tigers had scouts in attendance to see Reds ace Johnny Cueto during his start against the Cubs on Friday, according to Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports.

MLB.com also reported that the Reds had a scout in attendance at Double-A Erie over the weekend.

Cueto has drawn interest from several teams as the 28-33 Reds, who are now 12 1/2 games out of first place in the NL Central, will likely be sellers at the trade deadline.

The 29-year-old right-hander is earning $10 million this season and can become a free agent after the season.

Cueto is 4-4 with a 2.85 ERA, 0.949 WHIP and 82 strikeouts in 12 starts (85 1/3 innings).
