Reds' Bruce needs knee surgery, will be sidelined 3-4 weeks

Cincinnati Reds right fielder Jay Bruce will have surgery on a partially torn meniscus in his left knee, FOX Sports 1 Insider Ken Rosenthal confirms.

Bruce is expected to be sidelined 3-4 weeks.

Bruce has missed only 14 games the past three seasons combined and has played in at least 148 games in each season since 2010. Last season, he led the Reds with 30 homers and 109 RBI, and he has finished 10th in the NL MVP voting the previous two seasons.

In 29 games this season, Bruce is hitting just .218/.355/.366 with three homers and 14 RBI.
