Red Sox honor David Ortiz by naming Brookline Avenue bridge and street after him

On Sunday at Fenway Park, the Boston Red Sox squared off against the Toronto Blue Jays in the final regular season game of the year.

While there WILL be postseason baseball in Boston next week, the Red Sox took Sunday as an opportunity to honor their legendary, veteran slugger -- David Ortiz -- as he will likely retire after the playoffs are over.

The ceremony was nothing short of awesome -- starting with a tribute video aired inside Fenway Park:

A generous donation from the Red Sox organization to David Ortiz's charity:

A salute to his native country, the Dominican Republic:

Including catching the ceremonial fist pitch from the Dominican Republic's President:

And finally: his own real estate -- as the mayor of Boston announced that the Brookline Avenue Bridge over the Massachusetts Turnpike will be renamed "Big Papi" David Ortiz Bridge.

In addition: a street near Fenway Park will be renamed "David Ortiz Drive"

Big honors for Big Papi -- well-deserved after a tremendous career.
