Posada could resume catching drills this week

New York Yankees catcher Jorge Posada, limited to being the designated hitter since coming off the disabled list last week, could begin catching drills when the team visits Baltimore this week, manager Joe Girardi said Sunday.

Posada made his fifth straight appearance at DH on Sunday since returning June 2 from a fractured right foot that sidelined him for 15 games.

The Yankees are off Monday and begin a three-game series at Baltimore on Tuesday. Girardi said Posada is scheduled to see team doctors during the series and would likely catch in the bullpen before working in a game.

Posada began the day batting .305 with six home runs and 14 RBIs.
