Pirates recall top OF prospect Tabata
The Pittsburgh Pirates have recalled their top outfield prospect, Jose Tabata, after he batted .308 with three home runs and 25 stolen bases at Triple-A Indianapolis.
The team's top pitching prospect, right-hander Brad Lincoln, was called up from Triple-A following Tuesday night's game in Washington and will start Wednesday night against the Nationals.
Second baseman Neil Walker has become a starter since his May 25 recall, meaning three of Pittsburgh's top four prospects have been brought up since the season began. Third baseman Pedro Alvarez, the No. 2 pick in the 2008 draft, remains at Indianapolis.
First baseman Jeff Clement was optioned to Indianapolis to make room for Tabata.
