Pirates' Guerra gets first career win
Deolis Guerra didn't mind waiting 14 innings to collect his first career win.
Besides, after 10 years in the Minors, what's a couple of hours or extra innings?
"Unbelievable, amazing. It feels great," Guerra told Pirates.com. "It's a moment I've waited for my whole life, and it finally came true."
And the moment sure came at a time when the Pirates needed it. It's not as if Guerra was pitching in a low leverage situation. The Pirates needed quality innings from the right-hander and he delivered.
"Guerra shows up," Pirates manager Clint Hurdle. "Pitched three out of four days, and gives us three more innings. That's fantastic. ... 10 years toiling [in the Minors], and to come back and get the win."
