Pirates activate Lee off DL to start against Cubs

The Pittsburgh Pirates have activated first baseman Derrek Lee from the 15-day disabled list and inserted him into the cleanup spot against the Chicago Cubs.

The Pirates confirmed the move after Lee completed batting practice Saturday.

Lee was acquired from Baltimore on July 30 and has five hits in 18 at-bats - including two homers and a triple - in five games with Pittsburgh.

He broke a bone in his left wrist after being hit by a pitch by Cubs closer Carlos Marmol on Aug. 3. He was placed on the DL on Aug. 10.

Andrew McCutchen also was in the starting lineup. He was removed Friday after being hit by a pitch on his left hand in his first at-bat.
