Phillies release outfielder Grady Sizemore

The Philadelphia Phillies announced Monday that they have released outfielder Grady Sizemore after recently designating him for assignment.

Sizemore was signed to a one-year, $2-million deal by the Phillies in October 2014 after he joined the team last season.

The 32-year-old outfielder spent eight seasons with the Cleveland Indians before being picked up by the Boston Red Sox and then the Phillies in 2014 after being forced to sit out the 2012 and 2013 seasons due to injuries.

Sizemore was hitting .245/.288/.296 with no home runs and six runs batted in in 39 games with the Phillies this season.
