Phillies GM: Asking price for Cole Hamels has not dropped

By Ricky Doyle

The Philadelphia Phillies still aren’t blinking.

One major league general manager who recently inquired about Phillies ace Cole Hamels told The Boston Globe’s Nick Cafardo that Philadelphia’s asking price for the left-hander still hasn’t dropped despite him struggling in two of his three starts so far this season.

“Not one bit,” the GM told Cafardo.

The Phillies reportedly are willing to wait until the trade deadline to deal Hamels, with their logic being that other teams’ rotations will trend one way or the other.

Hamels is 0-2 with a 5.00 ERA in his three starts. He has surrendered seven home runs in 18 innings, including four homers to the Boston Red Sox on Opening Day in Philadelphia.

The Red Sox, of course, are one team that has been linked to Hamels in trade speculation dating back to the offseason. Boston’s rotation has had both highs and lows to this point in the season.
