Paul Dolan approved as Indians' controlling owner

Paul Dolan has been approved by Major League Baseball as the controlling owner of the Cleveland Indians, taking over from his father Larry.

The 53-year-old Dolan was voted approval at MLB's owners meeting on Thursday.

Larry Dolan and his family trusts bought the team from Richard Jacobs in February 2002, and Paul Dolan became vice president and general counsel. He was promoted to team president in 2004 and chairman and chief executive officer in 2011.
