Padres reinstate OF Blanks, option him to minors

The San Diego Padres reinstated outfielder Kyle Blanks from the 15-day disabled list and optioned him to Double-A San Antonio on Tuesday night.

Blanks had season-ending Tommy John surgery on his right elbow July 29 after playing in just 33 games last season with San Diego.
