Padres' James Shields not planning to wear AL Championship ring yet

James Shields received his American League Championship ring on Tuesday when Royals GM Dayton Moore flew into Seattle. Shields had some interesting comments about the 10-karat white gold ring.

"I’m probably not going to be wearing both those (AL championship rings) until I get the World Series ring," the Padres right-hander said.

It’s the second AL championship ring he’s received -- the first earned in 2008 with the Rays. Although Shields said it was “special” to get the ring, he made it clear that he wants to do more than just reach the World Series.
