Padres' Cabrera admits PED use
An emotional Everth Cabrera has admitted to taking a banned substance during the spring of 2012 while recovering from a shoulder injury.
The All-Star shortstop, suspended for 50 games earlier Monday, broke down after apologizing to Padres fans, the organization and his teammates.
He didn't take questions after speaking through an interpreter for several minutes.
While taking responsibility for his actions, Cabrera says he was steered to the now-closed Biogenesis of America anti-aging clinic in Florida by a former agent, Juan Nunez.
Cabrera, who is from Nicaragua, also warned fellow Latin American players to be careful about which people they keep around them when they come to the United States to play ball.
