Orioles GM Duquette admits he still has offseason work to do

BALTIMORE -- Two weeks before the start of spring training, the Baltimore Orioles don't have a proven closer and are still searching for a veteran starting pitcher.

Executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette said Saturday he hopes to supplement the starting rotation within the next two weeks.

A.J. Burnett, Ervin Santana and Bronson Arroyo are among those available.

Speaking at the team's annual FanFest, Duquette said, ''We're going to see what we can do to add a veteran pitcher between now and when spring training starts.''

Duquette didn't add a high-priced free agent to the team this winter. He did, however, trade AL saves leader Jim Johnson to reduce the team's payroll.
