Offseason rivalry: Cardinals fans upset after Heyward signs with Cubs

Jason Heyward agreed to an eight-year, $184 million contract with the Chicago Cubs Friday, reportedly turning down several teams to take an offer that was not quite as lucrative as he could have gotten elsewhere.

One of those clubs spurned happened to be the St. Louis Cardinals, who traded for the outfielder prior to the 2015 season, and was making it a top priority to re-sign the young free agent talent.

While the Cardinals' players and front office staff will call it a 'business decision' for Heyward, St. Louis fans aren't taking the news well that the free agent chose to play for the team's biggest rival instead -- despite him spending just one season in Cardinal red.

As expected, numerous Cardinals fans are using social media as their platform to express their displeasure with Heyward going to the Windy City.

Of course, there's jersey burning.

Hoping for injury.

Threatening the good ol' beanball.

The simple, yet effective, throwing the jersey in the trash.

And finally, the 'we're just going to beat you in the division' comments.

Now, this is a small sampling of Cardinals fans, and of course no representation of the entire fan base. While many chose to stay silent on the matter, there were well-wishers amongst the Cardinal Nation fury.
